Supported Volunteering Individuals or Small Groups

ReStore Volunteer

At Habitat for Humanity HMD, we believe in creating an inclusive and supportive community for everyone. Our supported volunteer program is specifically designed to offer meaningful opportunities for individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities to contribute, learn, and grow. These opportunities require the volunteer to be accompanied by their caregiver/support staff at all times while volunteering.

Please note that the support worker/ caregiver and the supported individual will both need to register individually.

What you bring to the Team:

  • Positive attitude, with a high energy level.
  • Exercise respect and accountability.
  • Understanding the mission and values of Habitat for Humanity HMD..
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Willingness and ability to work in conditions including, heat, cold, and dust.
  • This is a physical position,  it requires you to stand, move around, be engaged with customers and staff for a few hours at a time.

 

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service to our donors and customers.
  • Stock inventory and prepare merchandise displays.
  • Performs general housekeeping duties to maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Follow all policies and procedures for safely handling and displaying items.

 

Volunteer Shifts:

During your onboarding process you can consult with your store manager regarding what days and times work best with your schedule. We are open Monday to Saturday 10am-8pm and Sunday 10am-6pm.

Important Information:

  • We work as a TEAM at the Habitat for Humanity ReStores. We require all volunteers to be open to working with others, to be respectful and compliant with our organization’s operating procedures.
  • Please note: we do not provide any type of reference or confirmation of hours for high school, university, or job applications for volunteers who complete less than 50 hours.
  • At this time we do not accept court-appointed hours.
