Panasonic Canada’s brand slogan “A Better Life, A Better World” reflects their global commitment as good corporate citizens to help strengthen the communities in which they live and work. Habitat Halton-Mississauga-Dufferin has witnessed this philosophy being put into action as employees rolled up their sleeves, picked up paintbrushes and revitalized neighbourhoods through Habitat’s Brush with Kindness program. Our longtime partners have once again come out to help support affordable housing in their own backyard!
“Our partnership with Habitat really lets us find new and exciting ways to give back to the community. We felt that if we could continue to do something safely in this time of need [the pandemic] we definitely wanted to do that.” -Ashna Haji Marketing Lead, Air Conditioning & Co-Chair of Panasonic Cares Volunteer Committee
Looking for a way to continue their support of Habitat in 2021, a pandemic-friendly donation drive-thru event was organized at their Mississauga office.
Panasonic Canada donated over 1600 lbs of clothing, books, toys, accessories, videos and even soccer balls! That’s 1600 pounds diverted from our landfills that can be sold in our ReStores. Not only will these donations be generating revenue to help build safe, affordable housing, but Panasonic also doubled their impact by making a generous financial donation to be directed towards Habitat HMD’s pilot Tiny Home build program.
This donation shows the commitment of the Panasonic employees putting to action their philosophy to ‘build a better world’. Not only did this drive-thru event allow them to reconnect with their colleagues it also found them reflecting on the important contribution their team has made to Habitat.
Did you know that the average Canadian sends 81lbs of textiles to the landfill per year because most of our clothes are fast-fashion. Fast fashion is the mass production of cheap, poor quality, disposable clothing.
We are proud to promote planet sustainability through our ReStore donation program. Since 2002, Habitat HMD’s ReStores have been diverting hundreds of thousands of tonnes of materials from landfills and giving families the opportunity to purchase affordable household items and building materials, while doing our part to protect the planet.
Thank you Panasonic Canada for joining us to create a safer future with more homes for families, and a protected planet for us all!
