Out with the Old: Donate Toys to our ReStores

Have you ever considered heading into a Habitat ReStore for that perfect Christmas present for your grandkids? No? Well, now you can! Don’t stress yourself out over the high prices at Toys ‘R Us and Mastermind Toys, just head over to your closest ReStore!

Habitat Halton-Mississauga-Dufferin has recognized the potential of selling toys in our ReStores, offering more options for customers while providing them with a well-rounded shopping experience. Our ReStores already see their fair share of collectibles, from collectible comics to rare figurines and train sets. Donating unwanted toys also lowers carbon emissions by keeping them out of local disposal sites.

While we build up our inventory, we invite the community to donate their unwanted toys to our ReStores! Just because your child no longer has a use for something doesn’t make it useless. Kids grow out of toys rapidly which often leads to a lot of excess carbon footprint when Christmas comes around. To make room for new toys, donate your old ones for other children to enjoy!

Donate toys

Has your child switched their preference from Barbie to L.O.L. Surprise dolls? Donate what they don’t want and teach them the value of a meaningful donation. Bring them into the ReStore and let them see the impact their donation can make, providing less fortunate families with a new affordable option for Christmas presents.

Over the years, we have seen thousands of toy trends come and go, from the childhood staple of LEGO to the newfound craze of Baby Shark (I’m so sorry if I just got that song stuck in your head). Toy companies are continually reinventing, convincing children they need the next best thing. As you upgrade your children’s toys, please ensure you donate their old novelties to Habitat ReStores!

Every child deserves the joy that comes with a new toy and it doesn’t matter if it’s pre-owned! Toys are a lot more than just a cuddly friend. They foster imagination, encourage role play and hand-eye coordination. A train set can be a child’s first look into the automotive industry; a set of building blocks could lead to a future interest in construction.
