FirstService Residential and STRONE partner together as presenting sponsors of Habitat Halton-Mississauga’s 2017 Golf Classic

The Habitat Halton-Mississauga Golf Classic presented by FirstService Residential & STRONE will be held Thursday, June 22 at Hidden Lake Golf Club in Burlington. Registration for the tournament is on now and sponsorship packages are still available. 100% of the funds raised this year will go directly towards helping kick-start construction of the Crew-Goetz Landing Build. Located at 2384 Queensway Dr. in Burlington, the site will feature up to 18 townhomes for hard-working, low-income families and individuals in need of a safe, decent and affordable place to call home.

Co-sponsor, STRONE, is no stranger to supporting Habitat Halton-Mississauga. The company, who provides in-house response, restoration and remediation services, delivers 24/7 property restoration for damage caused by fire, water, storm, vehicle impacts, as well as document recovery and restoration, demolition services, mold remediation, asbestos abatement, and vandalism repair. STRONE’s subsidiary Itech provides specialty services including emergency spill response and remediation, excavation and electronics and equipment cleaning. STRONE came to the rescue recently, donating their restoration expertise to the John T. McCallum Build Project, a single family townhouse located on Mariner Court, Mississauga.

“In the communities we manage, and throughout the greater community, we strive to make a difference every day,” says Todd Cooper, President, FirstService Residential.  “We are long-time supporters of Habitat’s golf tournaments and we are happy to return and help make this year’s event at Hidden Lake Golf Club truly memorable.”

Past Habitat Golf Classics have brought hundreds of businesses, organizations, individuals, volunteers and community leaders together as golfers and sponsors to raise funds for Habitat’s mission of building affordable housing as a means to breaking the cycle of poverty.  In 2015, the tournament sold out and raised $80K for Habitat’s build program. “We are really excited about the return of our Golf Classic,” says Habitat Halton-Mississauga CEO, John Gerrard. “We took a year off from holding the tournament to focus on presenting 15 homes to 15 families in 2016, the most homes we’ve ever presented in one year. Our build program is growing and so bringing back one of our key annual fundraising events is critical to help us keep our construction costs to a minimum.”

Plans are underway to make the Golf Classic an all-new experience. Golfers will enjoy a day of golf with a 7:30 am shotgun start, a light breakfast to begin the day, a delicious Marché Market-style lunch on Hidden Lake’s outdoor patio and live entertainment. Plus, we’re lining up some great silent auction items that are sure to entice bidders to raise even more for Habitat. And thanks to STRONE who is also

our Thanks a Million Sponsor, we’re giving away a special gift to all golfers just to say “thank you” for supporting the families and individuals we serve.

Registration fees are only $200 per golfer and $800 for a foursome and include green fees, cart, breakfast and lunch. “It’s an incredible value for all those who want to come and golf for the day,” says Gerrard.
