Donate Your Furniture To Habitat for Humanity

Support Sustainability by donating your used furniture to Habitat!

Now that spring cleaning has ended, you’re probably wondering what to do with your unwanted furniture. Whether you’re decluttering or downsizing, there’s bound to be some furniture that takes up too much space or has lost its charm. Instead of disposing of it or letting it gather dust, donate your furniture to our Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga-Dufferin! Our ReStores in Burlington, Milton, Orangeville, and Mississauga accept furniture donations, as well as appliances, clothing, and more! Also benefit by getting a tax receipt for donations worth over $100.

Whether you’re moving homes or wanting to get rid of old furniture, you’re going to need a way to get it out of the house. If you have a pickup truck or large vehicle, it would be much more convenient to drop it off at our ReStores (locations here). While you’re there, you may find something useful or interesting! However, if you don’t have a method to transport your furniture, Habitat for Humanity offers free pick-ups for your bulk items. Simply schedule a pick-up with us on our website, and we’ll take them off your hands (curbside, garage or indoor)!

Recently, the conversation around sustainability has begun to increase, and more people have been switching to live a sustainable lifestyle. Every year, millions of furniture end up unnecessarily our of circulation, and it’s time to change that. When you donate your furniture to our ReStores, you give it another chance to be reused by someone else.

If you also believe in supporting sustainability, donating furniture and other household items (in good condition) to a Habitat ReStore also contributes to the recycling efforts in Ontario. Plus you’re helping a great cause.

Another trend this year has been upcycling used furniture and clothing! Creative individuals who shop at our ReStores may be interested in upcycling your items too, which can be sold again to someone who’s looking for a unique piece of furniture! When these unique pieces of furniture are bought, the profits go to Habitat for Humanity’s program which builds affordable housing for those in need.

However, you may think to yourself, “I’d earn more money by selling my furniture…” While that is true, donating your furniture to a local Habitat ReStore gives you that great feeling from knowing that your donations benefit people in your community! Plus, you get a tax receipt for your good deed! Through your donations, you’ll be contributing to a great cause, engaging in sustainable practices, and saving money!
