Our Crew-Goetz Landing project is the single most ambitious project Habitat Halton-Mississauga has undertaken in its nearly 20-year history.
And that’s saying something.
Habitat Halton-Mississauga is consistently raising the bar and pushing the boundaries of what is considered possible in the non-profit home building sphere.
Eighteen homes, $2.7 million in IAH funding, a brand new model that offers flexibility to homeowners and more homes for our family, and a brand new partnership with government to ensure people in our community have a safe and decent place to live.
On May 4th, at 11:00 a.m. Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga will officially break ground on the Crew-Goetz Landing build project. Along with our government partners, corporate donors, volunteers, staff and supporters, we will be celebrating the commencement of a project that will ensure 18 families have a safe and decent place to call their own.
As our community continues to grow, it is our responsibility to ensure we have safe and decent homes for people from all walks of life. Land is becoming much more difficult to obtain in Halton and Peel, and it is getting more expensive to build every year. This does not resolve us of our responsibility to help those in our community in need of affordable housing.
Our new deferred home ownership model is a game changer. People’s living arrangements change much more fluidly than they did in the past, and our model has evolved to reflect that. At any point during their time with Habitat, if a partner family would like to find a new place to live, we will pay them back all the equity they have put in the house and retain ownership of the property in order to give it to another family. This offers unprecedented flexibility to our partner families while safeguarding Habitat’s supply of affordable housing.
Join us on May 4th at 11 a.m. on 2384 Queensway Drive to celebrate Habitat’s brave new project and approach. This is the first step towards a better Burlington, one that can provide safe and decent housing for everyone.
