Over 100 volunteers from Panasonic Canada rolled up their sleeves to participate in Canada’s first A Brush with Kindness event. A Brush with Kindness is a home preservation program that provides painting, and minor repair services for homeowners. These projects help families, individuals, and senior citizens reclaim their homes with pride and dignity. Brush With Kindness has been designed to provide neighbourhood revitalization on a large scale, giving new life to communities in need.
This event took place at Springfield Co-operative Homes in Mississauga, specifically in the 25 seniors units in the co-operative.
This event will have an unbelievable impact on the seniors living in these units. We knew the building needed so much work done and with us being seniors it’s very difficult to complete the work needed to be done. From the bottom of our hearts, we are so grateful.
-Joy Burke, Springfield Cooperative Housing
From 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. volunteers painted interiors, hung shelves, cleaned windows, did caulking work and performed minor repairs throughout the seniors units in the Cooperative.
What a great group of volunteers! Thank you for all taking the time to make an impact in someone else's life. @PanasonicCanada #brushwithkindness #panasonicgives pic.twitter.com/80KSv1CSru

This event is the culmination of the partnership between HFHHM and Panasonic Canada in an effort to make a large impact on a community in a single day. For our affiliate, it is the first project of its kind. Never before has Habitat for Humanity partnered with another organization to revitalize a community on such a large scale in a single day.
Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga is so proud to be a part of the first Brush With Kindness event in Canadian history. This event has brought lasting change to a community and gives them a chance to foster an even greater sense of pride in where they come from.

On top of all the great work they did to the senior’s units, Panasonic also presented a cheque to Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga for $60,000 – for use towards our homebuilding efforts in the community.
We were blown away by the positive attitude and teamwork displayed by the Panasonic Canada volunteers. Through the support of amazing people like you, we truly believe we can end the cycle of poverty through helping everyone have a safe and decent place to live.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for taking part in this historic event.
