On June 22nd at 11 a.m., dignitaries, press, staff, volunteers and well-wishers gathered for the official groundbreaking and launch of the Bristow-Law Build Project. This event celebrated Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga’s partnership with the Region of Peel and the City of Mississauga to build four new homes for local families in need of a safe, decent and affordable place to live. This property, purchased for a toonie, has undergone the demolition of a former fire station and several months of intensive soil remediation in order to make this project a reality.

The Bristow-Law Build project was named after two longstanding volunteers at our affiliate, Cheryl Bristow and Robert Law. The name was chosen to celebrate their outstanding commitment to building more affordable housing in Halton and Peel.
Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie, Councillors Carolyn Parrish, Dave Cook, George Carlson and the Region of Peel’s Sue Ritchie were on hand to support this new project reinforcing their commitment to affordable housing and our shared goal that will give more Canadians a place to call home.

The Bristow-Law Groundbreaking was a celebration, not just for Habitat, but for Mississauga and the Region of Peel. Through our collaboration and tireless efforts to make this project a reality, more truly affordable housing will be coming to Mississauga.

These groundbreaking ceremonies are important reminders to all of us, that the work we do in the community will make a lasting, life-long change for the families and individuals we help on the pathway to homeownership.
