Homeownership in Canada is not equal. While over 68% of Canadians own their own homes, Black people living in Canada have faced systemic barriers and discrimination, resulting in disproportionately low homeownership rates. Only 40% of Black people in Canada own their homes—the lowest level of homeownership among any group.

Habitat for Humanity affiliates across Canada, in collaboration with the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), are working to help Black families like yours become homeowners. This empowers you to build security, stability, equity, and the opportunity to create a better future for yourselves, your children, and generations to come.

By addressing the racial disparity in homeownership, we can provide Black people living in Canada with the same opportunities for social and financial stability, equity building, and future transformation that others enjoy, ensuring our collective prosperity.
