Donating Seasonal Home Decor Is A Year Round Effort

Donate seasonal decorations like Christmas decor to your nearest Habitat for Humanity ReStore and get a tax receipt.

Decluttering your home decor?  Whether it’s Christmas, Fall, Halloween, Summer, Easter, Valentine and other seasonal home decorations, donate them to a Habitat ReStore near you

All throughout the year in Ontario, our homes go through different home decorations to accent and align it with the holiday and season.  For instance early in the year, it’s New Year, or in some households, Lunar New Year, then it’s Valentine’s, followed by Spring, Easter, St. Patrick’s, Summer, Canada Day, Fall, Thanksgiving then finally Winter, Christmas and other reasons to celebrate the holiday season.  In an effort to declutter your seasonal decor, or refresh your look after you’ve had the same decor for a few years, why don’t you check your home decor and donate your home decorations like holiday season or Christmas decor to Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga-Dufferin (Habitat HMD)?

When you donate your home decor and other items in good condition from your home to Habitat HMD, you’re giving back to the communities of Halton region, Mississauga and Dufferin county.  Donations to Habitat HMD are recirculated back to the community through its 4 ReStores.  Some folks who might not afford good home decor from shops and in online stores might need to buy them affordably and will purchase them from a ReStore, where there are a wide variety of savings of up to 70% off retail, including used items and thrift store-like prices for a lot of categories.  Donating seasonal decor can brighten up anyone’s home and yard, making couples, families and neighbouroods have a happier and better glow about them!

Perhaps it’s also the right time to declutter and prepare for downsizing, when the kids have moved out, or rightsizing, if you’re too stressed with shoveling snow or removing those fall leaves when a good condo is now more your fit, or for other reasons like current lifestyle, income changes, and other significant factors that affect your day-to-day.  You start with big things you no longer need, but sometimes, it’s also about determining which of your home decorations and accent pieces are no longer needed, or are dated, or no longer work with the theme of your home.

If you’re looking to update your house’s theme, or also looking to refresh your home decor, our Habitat HMD ReStores also sell home decor, including seasonal home decor!  Check the sliding gallery below to actually see what we’ve had in our ReStores in Burlington, Milton, Mississauga and Orangeville.  With some generous individual donors and a few amazing business partners, we’ve actually sold a lot of nice brand new home decor over the past 24 months!  If you know of a business looking to partner with Habitat HMD in any way, from team building to events or simpler acts, click here.
