X-Tile Canada: Building A Better Future, Tile by Tile

Habitat HM is “floored” by the generous donation of  X-Tile Canada.

For Edward Saunders, sales manager at X-Tile Canada, being able to donate product that helps us construct affordable homes for those who need it most is what makes it all worth it.

“I can’t even put into words how making this donation makes us feel. It’s just awesome to be able to give back,” he said. To date they have donated more than $91,000 retail value in tiles to our organization. As a not-for-profit with the vision of a world where everyone has an affordable place to call home, corporations like X-Tile Canada help push our goal closer within reach.

Donating materials help to reduce our operating costs, ensuring that every cash donation we receive will be used to build more homes locally. X-Tile’s donated tiles went into our ReStores where they were resold to families and individuals within our community. All revenue from ReStore sales helps to cover our costs of office administration, with net revenue used to fund our build projects. Every dollar our organization is able to raise through the resale of donated goods means that we can stretch our resources further, to do more to expand affordable housing within our community.

With more than 18 years in the market, X-Tile is one of the largest wholesalers of tiles and ceramics in the country. All at affordable prices, their tiles come in a range of styles including unique ceramic, glass, metal, porcelain tiles, natural stone, mosaics and custom-made medallions; and their highly-informed staff are experts on them all.

X-Tile Canada became involved with Habitat HM in 2018 after one of their employees had volunteered in our ReStore and saw first hand, the impact a donation can make.  Within only a year they’ve already made such a powerful impact on our organization and in our capacity to do more to help local families.

After building rapport with our team at Habitat HM, Saunders saw first-hand the heart and dedication of our employees and he knew he wanted to become a part of it.

“I was surprised by how caring everyone from your organization is,” he said.

For X-Tile Canada, they’re more than happy to support Habitat HM any way they can, if it means they’re helping local families gain strength, stability and independence.

“We hope to be able to continue helping for years to come,” said Saunders.

Thank you, X-Tile Canada, for building local families a better future, tile by tile.

Turning overstock product into homes for families in need

If your business or corporation is looking for a solution for your overstock or discontinued product that’s taking up valuable space in your warehouse, then making a gift-in-kind donation to Habitat HM is the answer for you.

Gift-in-kind donations are goods or services donated to our organization. This includes building materials, furniture and appliances.

As you could assume, a lot goes into building a Habitat home. In the U.S., the average Habitat home needs 150 pounds of nails and 400 2x4s. We rely on these gift-in-kind donations of materials from corporations within our community; the impact these donations have on our capacity to build affordable housing cannot be overstated.

Making a gift-in-kind donation to Habitat HM is also a fantastic way to give back to your community. Satisfy your corporation’s corporate social responsibility and benefit your business’s brand while clearing out overstock items.
