5 Things You Can Donate When Spring Cleaning

Decluttering your home is a popular activity during the beginning of spring. A great way to combat unnecessary disposal of household items is by donating your gently used items to a Habitat HMD ReStore.

After a long winter, it’s always exciting to welcome spring. Flowers are blooming, the sun is peeking through, and it feels like a fresh start. Decluttering your home is a popular activity during the beginning of spring. Sorting through your goods and organizing items can sometimes feel overwhelming when you’re left with a pile of perfectly good items you don’t use or haven’t even touched, but don’t want to toss either. Consider donating electronics, donating furniture and thus decluttering your home. A great way to combat wastefulness is by donating your unused or gently used items to a Habitat HMD ReStore. Not only would you be making an eco-friendly choice, but 100% of the sales from your goods will go towards Habitat’s mission to provide affordable and safe housing for families in need.

Donate Appliances
Did you know that you can donate your kitchen and other large, working appliances such as ovens, washing machines, dryers, etc to Habitat HMD ReStores? You can book a free service to have our deconstruction team come and assess your kitchen and take it down so that it can be repurposed or reused. You will also receive a charitable tax receipt based on the resale value of your donated products. You’re also welcome to donate small appliances to ReStores! Have a toaster oven, microwave, or portable heater that you may not be using? These are just a few examples of small appliances that you can donate.

Donate Furniture

Want to update your space and bring in new pieces, but don’t know what to do with your current furniture? Consider donating your furniture! Donate Electronics
In today’s world, there is always a new phone or piece of technology to be had. That doesn’t mean you should throw away perfectly good game consoles, video games, phones, laptops, etc.
What many of us don’t recognize is the growing e-waste problem that is occurring due in part to throwing away electronics. Donate your electronics! By donating your electronics at ReStore, you can assist in preventing water and air pollution caused by toxic materials being disposed of irresponsibly – while also decluttering your home!

Donate Clothes

Sorting through you and/or your families closets and finding a lot of clothing that no longer fits, or duplicate clothing items that you accidentally received or purchased? You might even have some clothing that you bought but never wore! These are perfect pieces that you can bring into a ReStore for donating. We accept clothing for all ages and even clothing for pets too!

There are an array of reasons why donating and shopping second-hand can make a difference. Get started by decluttering your home and donating furniture, donating electronics, and more. Join Habitat for Humanity in creating a safer future with more homes for families, and a protected planet for us all and consider stopping by a ReStore with your donations.

Donate Excess Furniture/Goods
Have you been online shopping? While it can be a swift process, sometimes there are a few bumps along the way. It’s not uncommon to receive duplicate items of the same order or items with minor defects that otherwise work well. However, it can be confusing at times to figure out what to do in these situations, consider donating your duplicate items at a Habitat HMD ReStore where 100% of the proceeds made from your donation will go towards Habitat’s mission to provide housing for families in need.
