Announcement: Chief Executive Officer Stepping Down

Please let this announcement serve as a notification from the Board of Directors of Habitat Halton-Mississauga-Dufferin (HFHHMD) of a change in leadership.

John Gerrard, who has served the affiliate as CEO and the Habitat for Humanity federation for 9 years, is stepping down from the role effective January 31, 2021. Under his leadership, HFHHMD launched breakthrough new programs, grew in ReStore revenues and drove innovation all of which helped to position the affiliate for a strong and successful future.

During that time, we have partnered with our volunteers, sponsors, community stakeholders and government to serve exponentially more families and build more homes than before John’s arrival in 2012.  The affiliate is much stronger today than it was a decade ago as a result of his leadership.  We wish to thank John very much for his years of service and wish him much success in his future pursuits.

In order to facilitate a smooth transition of leadership and to ensure no loss of business continuity, long-time Board member, Mike Brush, will step off the Board temporarily to serve as Interim CEO of HFHHMD until a permanent successor can be named.  Mike has worked tirelessly for the affiliate since 2011 and his roles on the Board have included Vice-Chair and Chair, HR and Governance Committee. With the support of the Board, the leadership team and staff, he will ensure continuity in the delivery of all current programming, maintaining our bias for innovation, mission development and community service.

Mike is President and a founding Partner of COREinternational, which focuses on unleashing human capability and accelerating profitable, sustainable results for large complex businesses, and is a recognized leader in strategic organization design.  He has a Master of Business Administration, Finance & Human Resource Management from the University of Windsor, as well as bachelor’s degrees in Social Work, and Sociology from McMaster University.  Mike has a long history of volunteerism.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, our hundreds of staff and volunteers, and the families and communities we serve, please accept our thanks for your unfailing support as the organization moves forward.
