FREE Kitchen Deconstruction – Make a Profit on Your Next Reno!

If you’ve ever experienced a kitchen renovation, you know it can add up to be a seriously costly affair. Not only do you need to purchase your new coordinating cabinets, counter tops, appliances, etc., you also need to pay a contractor to come in just to do kitchen removal, only for it to end up in a disposal site. If only there was a better solution…

Introducing Habitat Halton-Mississauga’s FREE Kitchen Deconstruction program!

How does the Kitchen Deconstruction program work?

After we receive photos of the kitchen and additional information, one of our team members will complete an in-person assessment at your convenience. We’ll answer any questions and give a final answer on what can be deconstructed and schedule a date!

On the day of your kitchen removal, our trained staff & volunteers will carefully remove all your kitchen cabinets, counter tops, appliances, etc. completely free of charge. We’ll then sell your kitchen at an affordable price in one of our four ReStores in Mississauga, Burlington, Orangeville or Milton!

What about tax receipts?

We tax receipt all items of value that are donated. The value is based on a Standard Pricing Guide that we follow, which is based on the highest value we believe we can sell your donations in our ReStores. That value is assessed by one of our staff who is trained in such appraisal of donations. From there, our accounting department works on issuing the Tax Receipt!

This allows us to sustainably raise funds for our Home Build Projects, while providing affordable furniture options to families.

Kitchen Salvage

In terms of what we look for in a perfect kitchen deconstruction:

  • At least 5 “upper” cabinets and 5 “lower” cabinets in good condition
  • No visible wear or damage to kitchen cabinets
  • A “curved” laminate counter top, or a stone counter top
  • Any functional appliances (fridge, stove, dishwashers, etc) are always welcome!

Kitchen SalvageUnfortunately, we can’t take every kitchen. We specifically cannot take:

  • Kitchens with hinges on the outside doors of the cabinets
  • Kitchens that are 15 years or older
  • Kitchens with significant and visible damage
  • A “dated” style

Kitchen Salvage

It’s a uniquely sustainable program ♻️

We are committed to building homes, serving our community AND reducing our environmental footprint. By deconstructing your kitchen, we can ensure that it does not go in a disposal site, and instead is used by another family!

Last year was a great year for kitchen deconstructions. In 2019, more than 150 kitchens were deconstructed and their ReStore profits generated over $500,000 for our Build Program!
