Habitat for Humanity was ecstatic to welcome HGTV personality Brian McCourt to our ReVive Centre this past June. McCourt offered up his skills and expertise, showing us how to repurpose donated items found in the ReStore.
A contractor, design expert, real estate flipper, and co‐host of Backyard Builds, Brian McCourt is best known as one of the stars of the hit show Home to Win. With years of experience in home renovation, his creative approach to DIY and his diverse skill‐set make him the perfect partner for the ReVive Centre.
“It was an easy decision [to partner with Habitat],” says McCourt. “I knew about the organization and loved their mission of helping people.”
In partnership with Habitat for Humanity Halton‐Mississauga, McCourt stopped by our ReVive Centre to share his innovative and creative ideas, filming a series of DIY projects in our workshop. Videos of these projects will be released over the course of the next few months.
McCourt believes DIY projects are for everyone. He says he hopes these videos inspire people to know they can build things at home and not spend a ton of money. McCourt says you can use your mind instead of your wallet to build new things to bring into your home.
About the ReVive Centre
The ReVive Centre is Habitat for Humanity Halton‐Mississauga’s exclusive upcycling centre. It was born from Habitat’s motivation to reduce waste and the number of products going to landfill. The Centre is used to recycle and transform donated items that would otherwise be sent to landfill, ‘reviving’ the items to give them a second life!
An innovative idea to help raise funds for our ReStore, the ReVive Centre supports Habitat’s mission to build safe, decent and affordable homes for hard‐working, low‐income families in need. ReVive is a green initiative, helping breathe new life into items donated to the ReStore. This allows us to accept more donations from our community and divert additional waste from landfill.
Not only does ReVive give new life to furniture and items we might otherwise have thrown away, it also uses locally sourced materials, like live edge hardwood, to create new and unique items.
The ReVive Centre offers opportunities for volunteers, corporate teams, individuals and kids to learn some incredible new skills in a safe, controlled environment. Find out more about our ReVive Centre here.
